Saturday, 18th April 2009CCT Join Forces Against Child Abuse
By CCT Join Forces with The Social Development Agency Against Child Abuse
CCT has joined forces to partner with the BVI Social Development Family and Children Services Division to cherish each child during the month of April which is internationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention month. In 2008, the department recorded fifty two (52) cases of alleged child abuse and neglect, and before such cases become prevalent to the BVI; the community together with organizations must play a role to support and work with parents, caregivers and their children to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect in making the BVI a better place for all families.
Everyone's participation is critical and CCT has decided to play its corporate role in support of making a difference in a child's life. As part of our commitment to help protect the health and safety of children in our community, CCT will be offering it's CCT Kids phone free to parents of children under the age of seven (7) with $10.00 activation. Our CCT Kids phone is a secure, inexpensive, and one-touch dial way for children to immediately dial emergency contacts, protective services, as well as other family members when needed.
The team above together with the organizers intends to build public awareness of child abuse and neglect and promote community involvement through hosting local activities that promote healthy family interactions. A Family Day is planned for this Saturday 18th April 2009 at the H.L. Stoutt Community College starting at 11 am which various events are planned to entertain the entire family throughout the day from face painting, balloon sculptures, lucky dip, air bouncer, water dunking booth, soap box races, dart games, lime & spoon races, poetry reading, informational booth and much more. Come out and enjoy a fun filled interactive day with your child, or a child you know in support of breaking the cycle of child abuse.
